Am I crazy, or is chair hunting the worst?

Basically says it in the title. For whatever reason, looking for an office chair is one of the most stressful purchasing decisions for me. I have no idea if anything will be comfortable for me. Everything claims to be "ergonomic" "innovative" etc., yet it is all so subjective. This is compounded because the chairs are so expensive on the higher-end stuff that's actually suitable for working in them all day long (WFH).

Some people live and die on the Aeron, but then they're like really hard. I tried an Embody, but have decided to return it for a refund because, even though it's the most comfortable seat I've ever encountered the stupid constant creaking and knocking noises, particularly from the up-and-down leg extension mechanism drive me up a wall. This issue is particularly bad if you're a musician and/or move your legs a lot.

Then there's Steelcases, which are also expensive and rock solid. But in my experience have WAY too much lower back curve to them and are pretty hard.

Haworths apparently have similar problems to the Embodys, where they have a lot of noise.

I guess that's just the downside of having choices. With so much money in the purchase, the option paralysis is real.
